Whimsical, Modern Vintage Wedding Flower Inspiration at The Margin Inn in Westerly, Rhode Island
This past spring, I had the pleasure of contributing my floral designs to a styled wedding shoot at the beautiful Margin Inn in Westerly, Rhode Island. The Margin Inn is a cozy and elegant venue, perfectly blending historic character with modern amenities. The shoot embraced a charming, modern vintage mood, featuring a breathtaking French lace mid-length bridal gown, a delightful escort display with tasseled escort cards, and a reception table adorned with small ambient lamps instead of candles and rich tapestried table linens. The combination of unique details, garden-style florals, and a moody color palette created a whimsical aesthetic we hope to see trending in future weddings.

Romantic Bridgerton-Inspired Destination Wedding by CV Flowers Featured on Style Me Pretty
CV Flowers transformed the bride's luxurious Bridgerton-inspired vision into a reality by using a soft, classic, flower-focused design for the personal pieces and guest table decor - incorporating very minimal greenery and featuring, locally grown seasonal blooms in pastel shades including peonies, lilac, and ranunculus. Despite the rain, Ashley and Scott kept their ceremony outdoors on the terrace overlooking the lake. The aisle leading to the main focal point of the ceremony was lined with more than thirty feet of lush, pastel, meadow-inspired florals on either side. At the focal point of the ceremony, the florist designed a romantic gypsophila arch adorned with over 100 stems of large-bloom roses in muted lavender, pale yellow, and blush. The installation made a beautiful backdrop for the couple to exchange their vows with a view of the historic The Broadmoor in the background.

Why Are Wedding Flowers So Expensive?
-Original Article published on Wedding Sparrow February 16, 2023
WHY ARE WEDDING FLOWERS SO EXPENSIVE?
As you begin planning your wedding and contacting suppliers for quotes, you might be surprised how much things cost. For most couples, this is the first time sourcing wedding services, such as large-scale event catering, venue hire, and stationery design, and the prices can come as a shock. Floral design in particular can take up a bigger chunk of your wedding budget than you might expect, so why are wedding flowers so expensive?
We asked sustainable wedding florist and Fine Art Curation member CV Flowers to share her insight. "The short answer is that you are paying for beautiful flowers plus all that is needed to prepare and artfully design them, in conjunction with a specialized service," explains founder Christianne, who is based in Colorado. "Read on for a peak behind the scenes on what goes into pricing event floral design to better understand the cost of your wedding flowers."
1. Flowers are expensive.
It is a fact that the most pinned and saved wedding florals on the internet generally feature the most expensive flowers. Think Lily of the Valley, David Austin garden roses, Japanese sweet peas, Phalaenopsis orchids, and off-season peonies, just to name a few. Flower-filled Pinterest-worthy weddings can fill you with inspiration, that is until you find out the level of investment they require. Contributing to the sticker shock you may feel upon receiving a proposal, is the increase of 10-35 percent in your florists’ wholesale costs in the last few years. Everything from flowers to supplies to truck rentals has gone up. In some cases, a lot!
2. Your florist's skill, time and experience
In total, your wedding florist will likely spend up to seventy hours on the design and execution of your wedding flowers, from the time of the first meeting to the final breakdown and clean-up from your event. This does not include hours put in by additional designers to help. Nor does it include the continuing education and practice that the most sought-after florists invest in, to be at the top of their game with the latest floral sustainability techniques, trends, and design styles.
3. You are receiving a bespoke service
It all begins when you first meet to discuss your style and requirements. From there a mood board and proposal are created as well as an estimate based on the availability of certain flowers at the time of your event. Moving forward to about a month or two before your wedding, your florist will determine the stem count needed for your event, reserve any rental pieces, and build fixtures (if required)) and determine the hard goods required so that orders can be placed with the appropriate vendors.
Your florist also must take into account the unpredictability of supply chains and of course, the nature of flowers. Your florist may need to make several quick decisions on substitutions. Rest assured that a skilled and experienced florist will ensure that your wedding day flowers are spectacular, regardless of any glitches that happen along the way.
4. Preparing your wedding flowers takes many hours
About five days before your wedding, your florist will coordinate the pick-up and or delivery of your wedding flowers and greenery. Depending on the scale of your wedding, this may be from multiple sources such as local farms, a wholesale market, and overnighted items from out of state growers. Once they have arrived at the studio, the processing begins; each flower stem is cleaned of leaves and thorns and a fresh cut is provided to the stem. Even with multiple people, this is a process that takes many hours, up to a full studio day. At this point, it is worth mentioning that whether your florist rents or owns that studio space, it is a big expense.
5. Delivery and set-up of your wedding flowers
Finally, it is time to start designing and creating your wedding flowers, about three to four days before your wedding. Usually, at least two or more designers are putting in long days to complete your floral designs. If your wedding has a large installation, such as a floral arch, these flowers are most often designed on-site a few hours before your ceremony. Depending on the scale of the installation and the time allotted for the set-up of your wedding, this often requires multiple designers to complete.
On the day of your wedding, your florals are carefully loaded up, delivered, and set up at your venue. When your event is over, a team will return to take down, pack up, and clean up. Then it is back to the studio, where there is still plenty of work to be done, separating flowers for composting, cleaning and removing wax from candle holders, sanitizing all of the buckets and vessels, as well as returning rental pieces. It can add up to another full day of work.

From Petals to Promises: The Top 5 Questions You Absolutely Must Ask Your Wedding Florist Before Booking
Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task, with countless decisions to make and vendors to choose from. Among the many elements that contribute to creating a magical ambiance, flowers hold a special place. They have the power to transform any venue into a breathtaking space, reflecting the couple's unique style and enhancing the overall atmosphere. To ensure your floral dreams come to life, it's essential to have a clear understanding of your wedding florist's expertise, services, and approach. In this blog post, we will unveil the top five questions you should ask your wedding florist to guarantee a seamless and stunning floral experience.
Choosing the right wedding florist is crucial to creating a memorable and breathtaking ambiance on your special day. The flowers play a vital role in enhancing the beauty and elegance of the wedding venue. To ensure that your floral arrangements are nothing short of perfection, it's essential to ask the right questions before booking a luxury wedding florist. In this blog post, we will discuss the top five questions you should ask to find the perfect floral designer for your dream wedding.
1. Can you provide a portfolio of your previous work?
Before hiring a wedding florist, it's essential to review their portfolio. Ask for examples of their previous wedding designs to get a sense of their style and creativity. Look for consistency, attention to detail, and the ability to bring a couple's vision to life. A strong portfolio will give you confidence in their expertise and help you assess if their design aesthetic aligns with your desired wedding theme.
3. Can you work within my budget?
Discuss your budget openly with the wedding florist and ask if they can work within your financial constraints. A skilled florist can suggest creative solutions and alternative flower options that can achieve a similar look while staying within your budget. It's important to have a transparent conversation about costs, including floral arrangements, delivery, set-up, and any additional fees.
Selecting the perfect wedding florist is an essential step in creating a visually stunning and enchanting atmosphere for your special day. By asking the right questions, you can ensure that the florist you choose has the skills, creativity, and professionalism to bring your wedding vision to life. Take the time to review their portfolio, discuss your budget, and understand the full range of services they offer. By doing so, you'll be well on your way to finding the ideal luxury wedding florist who will make your wedding day truly unforgettable.
